Correction! Beeswax!

Beeswax Magazine has pushed back the release of issue 6 to January or February of 2010. This is because they only make good things and this will ensure them enough time to make this issue good. There will also be some sort of release party in California somewhere.

Also: More animation on it's way very soon!

Some of your Beeswax

The first set of "Kevan" comic strips will be in issue 6 of Beeswax Magazine. It will be coming out in December but you can pre-order a copy in November by going to their website.

I'm glad to be counted in the ranks with this colony of killer bee artists and writers.

Rooster shirt!!!

I made this rooster shirt the other day. I made about 8 of them. I think they came out really nice and I'm sure you do too. If you want one I will sell it to you for next to nothing. I totally hand printed them with 3 screens. Just email me. You will have to tell me your size and I can tell you if I made that size. I have a couple weird sizes so don't be shy if you're oddly shaped.

Know your history

My good friend Ted Cubotsky is directing a play in this year's Philly Fringe Festival and he asked me to attend a rehearsal. The play is called A History of Shit: Manson in Thebes but don't let the name fool you. It is a family event.

Newish animation

I have had an animation in the works for quite some time now. Ryan Manning was the first person to contact me about doing an animation after I had finished one for Kathryn Regina so I am working on an accompaniment to one of his poetic writings. I actually took about a 2 month hiatus from the project while taking classes at a school, getting credits and grades. I will soon be off to Europe again and should resume work on this project upon my return. Here is a barely figure-outable still from the animation.

Brevard Music Center

If you've been itching to hear some top notch classical music, you should make a trip out to Brevard Music Center somewhere between June 26 and August 9. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, this festival is bound to be a doozy.

Julia Alford Fowler asked me to make this poster. She will be writing and performing at the festival along with many many other talented people.

Show posters galore

I just finished designing this poster at 5:30 last night. And by last night, I mean this morning. It needed to get it done in time to get the separations printed out at work this morning. This will be my first real attempt at screen printing so we'll see how it goes.

By the way, go to this show. My band, Fang Fang is playing.

Peelander Z, Loafass & Mercury Radio Theater

Mercury Radio Theater just asked me to do another show poster.

I kinda ripped off this old French illustration from "War of the Worlds". I always thought those old plates were awesome.

Norway follow-up

'promotional video' with english subtitles for GUSTAF & Jeg! - two norwegian 'indie lit' journals (april, 2009) from GUSTAF on Vimeo.

Here is some footage that Auden Mortensen sent me from Novafest last weekend. You can see some people looking at short films as well as other things in Norway.

"Jeg!" translates as "I!" in english.

Arts festival

"I Am In the Air Right Now" Will be screening at Novafest in Oslo, Norway on Friday. If you happen to be in Oslo on Friday, stop on by.

There will also be a video from Matt Savoca playing, which has been said to be expertly edited. You can watch both of them at Gustaf Magazine #2's blog page. Gustaf is the organization hosting that section. Thanks Audun Mortensen.

Ever contemplate what Earth Day really means?

If you never have then you are in luck. Philadelphia Weekly has laid it out for you with people who know what they are talking about. Local Musicians! As we all know, musicians know a lot about the environment. I happen to be a drummer so I know about things like the difference between bulbs and seeds. Click HERE to see the plans that my band Fang Fang and I have been laying out for months.

P.S. We are playing the Khyber on April 30. You should come.

Fashism

I took some photos this weekend for Vivat Veritas' spring collection. I have never really done fashion photography before. It was fun. I will be doing more than this but this photo is everyone's favorite. You can see a couple more here.

Here is the second drawing in a series. I need more suggestions of animals and shortcomings. These here are a gluttonous turtle and mountain lion thanks to dual proposals containing similar attributes.

Kathryn Regina's new chapbook

I got to animate to a poem read by Kathryn Regina to promote her new chapbook "I Am In the Air Right Now". It is great and is coming out very shortly on Greying Ghost Press. It will only be a few dollars, I'm sure, and you should buy one to support good things.

I want to do more things like this. E-mail me and we will collaborate.

adeline klam was the archetype for this image. she is my favorite photographer ever made. i do not think she is famous yet, which, cleaving to the first definition, would matter.
